Sneaker Shop Alumni in Brooklyn, New York. This shop recentely took the risk to do something no other sneaker shop did for a long time: The project AlumniX Fila Overpass „Beef Patty“. This is a cooperation between Alumni and the manufacturer of sports equipment FILA which passed a bit out of minde lately. The result of this cooperation is nothing to sneeze at and is, in my opinion, one of the best sneaker releases in 2016.
The tasty jamaican „Beef Pattys“ have been inspiration for the project. “With this collaboration, our mission was to capture the spirit of the neighborhoods we call home by sharing a treat we eat too often,“ said Alumni’s Jaeki Cho. „After all, you are what you eat.“
The shoe is based on FILA’s Overpass, launched 1993. Regarding the design, nothing has been left to chance:
The Overpass is dressed in yellow pigskin suede, with a debossed texture along the toebox to mimic beef patty crust. Dark brown hits, including the dual-branded insoles, represent the filling. Illustrated beef patty graphics are visible through a translucent rubber outsole, my personal highlight.
Alltogether, a really special and beautiful sneaker Alumni and Fila launched in May 2016. However, it has been produced in a very limited edition. I was lucky and had the chance to order a pair. Within 30 minutes the shoe was sold out – says it all…
Here I present you my new Fila X Overpass „Beef Patty“, have fun!
This Fila Overpass is dressed in a yellow pigskin suede upper. The same coloration is also evident in the molded heel clip and leather sock-liner. While the colorway choice fits the inspiration well, the other product hits are also on point. The toe-box trim features a debossed design similar to that of the beef patty crust. The pair sits atop a white midsole and a translucent outsole, which features an all-over beef patty illustrated print. The brown leather insole represents the filling and features a beef patty logo sandwiched between the FILA and Alumni logos. Additional branding is found on the tongue with the Alumni “A” adopting the FILA font in red and blue, FILA 93 script font is on the counter and the FILA “F” on the collar. Tying the collaboration together, no pun-intended, is the brown and yellow boot-rope laces.
